AUTHORITY
OPENING PRAYER
Father, we thank you for this wonderful day, we thank you for everything particularly the gift of life. We bless your name for you are wonderful, also we thank you for this opportunity to hear your word, let there be light and let our faith cometh in the name of Yeshua.
Today we are going to introduce ourselves to authority and its relationship to power.
AUTHORITY
Authority is the right to use power in a particular realm or area, authority and power goes together. Men can have power without authority, but you cannot have authority without power, so power is still very important, and both are well needed.
Authority is what make your power meaningful. Power is not in full effect until it is power-full for a believer’s power to be power-full he must carry the authority of God.
Just like you cannot survive in life without power so you cannot reign in life without authority.
Men with power and without authority are limited.
God gave men dominion at three levels of the earth, air, land, and water.
Genesis 1:28
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
This time men have authority over the air, the land and the sea and everything on them.
But men lost the authority to Satan and since then men are without authority over those realms anymore unless Satan or God releases it to you.
Authority is what makes you reign on earth, not power.
Authority is associated with royalties (kings, princes, or priests), office or position (Head of state, Attorney general or Police officer).
1 Peter 2:9
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
And as a king you have authority over your domain, and even over any more powerful man in your domain just because you have authority.
Authority gives you power over principalities and powers. For example, a police officer can arrest a civilian who is more powerful than himself just because of the authority of the office he is representing.
So, a believer has power and authority over the powers of Satan and his agent just because of the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 10:19
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
So, in the real sense authority is a backup, a written legal back up.
It is written all vehicle must pull over and stop for a police officer’s car with siren and light flashing behind them.
Same is for all believers all the written words of God are backup for us but somehow, they don’t work.
Authority does not work in our lives because of the clothe we are wearing. A police officer in a mufti and without ID is as good as an ordinary man.
Joshua was powerful but he was hindered with filthy garment until God removed it and change his raiment.
Zechariah 3:1-5
1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lordthat hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.
They don’t work because of the name we bear, are your names written in the book of life? are your name connected to Yeshua, for at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow.
Jacob cannot forge ahead until his name was changed.
Genesis 32:27-29
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
They don’t work because of the food we are eating. Are you eating the word of God?
For we cannot survive eating food alone we must fast (feeding the spirit) and eat the word too.
Matthew 4:2-4
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
When we give our life to Yeshua, he gives us power to become the son of God.
John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
And as we continue with him, he gives us more power and authority to back up his powers in our life.
Luke 9:1
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
As the power gives you the right to sonship, so the authority gives us the right to a reign as the son of God.
And as a believer with this authority, we have the right to enforce the will of God in our life, destiny, and our environment.
Satan have and give power and authority to his agents too.
Revelation 13:2
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
His power and authority cannot go beyond the limit God allows; it is our sins that allow him to exercise his authority over us.
Satanic authority over us is the right we give him through sin or through evil covenants.
Prayers:
I take authority in heaven, on earth, under the earth and in the waters in the name of Yeshua.
I take authority over Satan, over satanic agents and their devices in the name of Yeshua.
I withdraw the authority and of Satan, over satanic agents and their devices over my life in the name of Yeshua.
